Dante's Inferno, the Game...

Oh, dude. Electronic Arts (EA) is apparently now producing a game based on Dante's Inferno. Apparently, Dante will travel through Hell's 9 levels in pursuit of his "beloved Beatrice." Oh, but wait, there's more! It'll be an action-adventure game!

Double dude! I just found the website. (Trailer from YouTube) This is not the Dante I remember...

Yikes! If only he could've been that bad-ass against the Guelphs!

Um, wow? Dante is much more badazz than I remember. The Dante I read just sorta followed Virgil around. This Dante seems like he is emptying Hell. Does he get 'power-ups' to whip Lucifer like a little lost puppy??

I don't think that's the Dante ANYONE remembers...

We need a totally violent Harrowing of Hell video game. Knocking those &#*@!$# doors down, kicking some ass, rescuing souls back through the generations, until you are knocking that Goddamn serpent on the head while also fighting off all his minions and holding Adam and Eve over your mighty messianic shoulders (maybe Bruce Campbell could voice-act).

Nathaniel,

I think that's the general idea behind this game (sans, unfortunately, Bruce Campbell)...

Brilliant.

Is there a co-op mode available so that you and a friend can play as Dante and Virgil together? Though that might not be fair, since Virgil can't really be killed.

Well, it won't be the first time that Electronic Arts has managed to completely mangle an otherwise successful franchise...

Also, did the Inferno really "change people's view of the Afterlife"? I'd guess it rather drew on perceptions that already existed in the popular imagination.
